Swim Bay

A trip to the Okanagan isn’t complete without a vagabond to Peachland and Swim Bay. This is one of our favourite family beaches in the valley for a number of reasons but mostly because it’s located in the quaint lakeside town of Peachland just off one of the best promenades in the valley.

The beach itself is one of two running north to south along the lakeshore across from Beach Avenue. Featuring a long sandy beach with a gentle slope into the water, clean washrooms and ample picnic area on well-manicured grass parklands this is a perfect spot for the entire family to hang out and enjoy the day. Concession at the beach is available from June to September but there are many wonderful restaurants, bakeries and little markets just across the street.

A real plus for parents is that a lifeguard is on duty from the end of June to the end of August with the swim area well marked and separated from boaters – which is not to say you can’t arrive by boat as there is all day free parking at the public marina if you’re early enough to secure a slip.

Valley Vagabonds Inside Tip

The beach itself is great for swimming with large shade trees and long sunlight hours, it also has a wharf, diving board, zip line and rope swing for the big and little kids in the family.
