Enderby - Unplugged

Downtown-Enderby.jpg

We love a small town. Especially one overflowing with hospitality and homegrown goodness. Enderby is classically quaint but irresistibly groovy - not unlike the 60’s hippie that is simply too cool to conform and busy to care.

Yes, this small town is chill. Home to the Enderby Cliffs, where the Shuswap highlands meet the Okanagan basin making way for a challenging 2,200-foot hike to an elusive summit where hikers are rewarded with a panoramic view of the valley. We prefer the less taxing trek to The Shrine…the place where two paths intersect and locals stop to pray for the strength to make it to the top, or not. Either way, it’s part of the local charm.

Equally charming is the Shuswap River float that sees tourists and locals basking in the summer sunshine as they flow with the slow and easy current of the river. If these two attractions aren’t enough to entice you to visit the local wineries just maybe - there are three plus a meadery.

In town, there are plenty of places to stop and gather, grab a beverage, tasty snack or catch some local busking. The town is in the midst of a revitalization that is introducing street art and crafty markets to it’s eclectic atmosphere and the vibe is catching on.

You can stay in the river side campground where pick-up ball games are still the norm, visit a working dairy farm, or book a night in a lofty treehouse after viewing the double feature at the Starlight Drive-In. Whatever your fancy, Enderby has a way of making it seem easy. Check the official Enderby site for COVID 19 updates.

Valley Vagabonds Inside Tip

When in Enderby make sure to take a quick trip to Maple Lake for a cooler version of Okanagan fun in the sun. You may be tempted to head to Mara or Kalamalka but resist those shiny gems, there's a diamond in the rough waiting slightly off the beaten path.
