Off the Grid Organic Winery

While Off the Grid Organic Winery is a relative newcomer to the West Kelowna wine scene the property's been in the family for over 100 years. Boasting a rich agricultural past as a neighbourhood fruit orchard, the land's been lovingly farmed by five generations of Paynter's.

In 2007 the orchard transitioned to an organic vineyard. Adopting sustainable farming practices the family, and vineyard creatures, work together to reduce pests and keep the vines healthy. No pesticides or insecticides are allowed on the property but that's not the only thing that wowed us. The tasting room's built with straw walls, has a grass roof and utilizes solar panels which pretty much stole our Vagbond hearts!

With a unique view of Okanagan Lake, the winery grows Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Zweigelt, Riesling, and Pinot Noir grapes. We'd been looking for a new-world Riesling to add to our summer line-up and were impressed with the bouquet and high acidity of their offering. We left with a few bottles of it as well as a bottle of fruit forward Unplugged Red.
