Penticton Farmers Market
Undoubtedly the largest market in the valley, the Penticton Farmers Market is more of an open-air shopping extravaganza through the streets of Penticton than what one would imagine a Farmers Market to be. In fact, the city permits two markets operating simultaneously on Saturdays - The Downtown Community Market and The Farmers Market - so love it or hate it – this is free enterprise on a global scale.
You’ll have no difficulty sourcing made-in-China sunglasses and beach toys for the kids, Dashboard Ogopogo’s for the car, or dryer balls for the laundromat – but you'll also find a treasure trove of handcrafted items that are unique to the Valley in the Community Market. The Farmers Market, on the other hand, offers fresh veggies & fruits, eggs, honey, baking, preserves and handmade crafts – all grown or produced in the South Okanagan. Either way, this is a large and interesting epicentre of entrepreneurial wares that deserves a visit.
Valley Vagabonds Inside TipThe market opens at 8:30 am and closes at 2PM, but if you’re looking for fresh cut flowers or baking, arrive before 11am to ensure availability and parking.
